Customers Reviews 2010-06-10 better than windshield mounting For more than 3 years I had my Nuvi attached to the windshield. The problem was the summer heat, causing it to fall off frequently, and destroying the suction cups. So far, I have not had that problem with the pad. In addition, the pad is very stable on the dashboard. | 2010-05-13 dash mat for sat nav This worked great for a few months but then lost it's stickiness. It still holds our Garmin but the whole thing slides around under aggressive acceleration or maneuvering, sending it all tumbling into your lap. I have heard you can wet the backing and revive its tackiness. We haven't tried that yet. It seems very durable but my wife tried to stuff it in the console and when she closed the lid on it the mat ripped. It may have gotten cut by the lid, we're not sure. I do like the fact that it didn't leave any marks or residue on the dash. | 2010-05-06 GPS mounting device
This product works as advertised and was a Godsend. It solved a big problem I had with using my GPS comfortably. Plus it eliminates those ugly tell-tale circles if you mount the GPS on the windshield. | 2010-02-02 Doesn't work with hard plastic dashboards Beware -- this product does not work with hard plastic dashboards! But, you only find this out once you open the plastic packaging (thus making the product non-returnable) and find a notice INSIDE the packaging (and hidden from the outside) that the product is to be used with SOFT VINYL DASHBOARDS ONLY. Having opened the packaging (and therefore not being able to return the product, so I had nothing to lose), I thought I'd try it on my hard plastic dashboard anyway, and of course, it failed to hold. | 2010-01-24 worthless design I bought the Sticky Pad based on the nice reviews here. But a simple look at the picture shows that the inadequate flexible pad has a vertical GPS coming up from the middle, making this a top heavy item that flops over upon driving the vehicle.
Also, while this is claimed to fit any GPS unit, notice that the requirement is to mount the suction cup about 120 degrees different from a typical windshield AND picture the rotation of the suction cup down from the windshield to the dashboard to realize that this results in the GPS screen to now be upside down. That's fine is your GPS mount allows it to be mounted upside down. Mine wasn't, since the designers apparently felt drivers would find it more usable if mounted right-side up. While mine did allow a fairly usable viewing, it was not an optimal angle.
My guess is that if you have a totally "window pane" flat 7" by 8" surface on your dash board that the stickiness would manage to hold even with a top heavy GPS unit wobbling on it. I drive a full size Jeep and while the relatively flat dash would not allow the pad to slide about, it would not stop it from toppling over.
