Customers Reviews 2010-07-21 it just plain works as needed reading reviews and researching GPS devices was kind of fun, but reading reviews for mounting bases was not nearly as much fun, just frustrating and with glowing and puhpuh reviews side by side - argh!? finally I picked this one and am so pleased with myself for getting it right on first try and that little bit of (unwilling) research was so worth it. Basically it does what it is supposed to - stays put, absolutely will not move no matter my crazy driving and the open front makes it easy to have cables plugged in on the bottom of my device. I also like that it is about the smallest one I could see on the internet or in stores, not as bulky as the other ones, while stability was number one, I preferred it not cover half my dashboard.
The only thing I did not see mentioned in all these great reviews, when they say your dashboard must be flat, well, mine is not flat, it has no ridges but curves down slightly, under this base it is at first abo 5 degrees curved down, then maybe about 15 degrees, and a 45 degree drop off near the edge of the dashboard and the HDFMB-2: i.Trek V2 sits unmovable like a bull right over the curve, even hanging over the edge a couple of millimeters. And sleeps under the car seat, of course. | 2010-07-01 Friction mount base for GPS units Simple design and very effective. It does not slide during acceleration, stopping or high G turns. The cut out in the front permits the wire to lay flat for bottom powered units.
Well worth the money. | 2010-06-23 Best Friction Dash Mount! I love this friction mount base! I bought it for use with my Garmin 1490t GPS and it works much better then the Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad I bought for my last Garmin. Unlike the Bracketon this one does not budge when I lay it on my dash. Can't beat it for price and value. | 2010-06-14 works great! A little bigger than I thought, however, it works very well. I could not figure out how to keep my suction cup to stay on it and then I watched a video where someone pulled something from the back of the clip and it adheres to it perfectly. I guess the suction clip also was able to do that on my windshield and I never realized it til now. It stays in place and I can take it when I travel on vacation in a rental car. Great product!! | 2010-06-13 Perfect for my Honda Accord I purchased my first GPS, (Tom Tom one, 3.5), and ordered this friction mount because it is annoying to have something stuck in the window blocking my view of the street. I had gone in the stores and found the flimsy versions with the loose bean bags that looked as if the beans would fall out over time or had odd useless shapes for my large flat dashboard. This product proved to be perfect for me because my GPS easily attaches firmly, it is small in size so stashing it in the door compartment is convenient (and it is not visible through the window for thieves), and it has a solid structure. It feels sturdy enough to last for some years and is even small enough to put in the glove compartment (I have a large glove compartment). Also, when deciding on my purchase I read a comment stating that in the summer his got hot and constantly fell off the dash and it made me hesitate with my purchase, but I live in Mississippi and the temp can go well over 100 and I have not had any problems. Honestly, the base feels like silicone (not sticky or tacky) and seems like the heat makes it stick even better for me. Overall, great product and I will highly recommend it to a friend. |
