Customers Reviews 2010-03-12 Good product My car got stolen then recovered due to a key that got dropped outside my home, so I had to find a way to protect my 11 yr old car without spending a fortune. What a blessing it was to find this $20 and change product. It's about half the weight than the club yet it's a very solid product. Just place and click. It should deter the crook enough to avoid the car if he decides to steal it from my driveway again (especially with a new security light in place as well). | 2010-02-07 Security for an old car that cant have a car alarm works good on my chevy tracker thats 12 yrs old. the only thing is, battery on imitation light goes quick, and if the steering wheel is not down enough will hit the windsheild. | 2010-01-25 Good steering wheel lock for a good price Good steering wheel lock, have used the club in the past, definitely prefer this MasterLock. Easy to use and like the other reviewers said, a steering wheel lock is at best a deterrent, cannot really stop a determined thief. More details are below:
Things I LIKE:
It fits really well over the steering wheel of my Mazda, the lock seems sturdy and well made.
Its also very easy and fast to lock into place compared to the Club. On the Club, you pull the hooks into place and then lock it using a key, I get frustrated with balancing the heavy club along with turning the key. On this masterlock, when you unlock it, the lock pops out a little bit from its frame, so while re-locking it, after you've have pulled the hooks apart on the steering wheel, to lock, just push the popped-out part back in. This sets it apart from the Club and makes it much easier to use.
Has a little LED light at the end that can be turned on/off, another visual deterrent.
Uses a regular key and not a barrel-key that may be picked easily with a bic-pen.
Double hooks should make it harder to take off the wheel.
Things I DON'T LIKE:
The lock itself and the key seem small, I think its a matter of perception and doesn't mean that a smaller looking lock isn't as good. | 2009-11-17 MasterLock good for car I bought this for my new car to safe-guard it from the thieves around. It easy to install, just pull and snap the button. Also due to its 4 hooks, you have put more work for thieves. Also added thing is: it has in-build red-led flash. So if your car is in dark, keep it on to thwart the thieves from coming near.
Only -ve is its very heavy, but as long as it does heavy-duty job, I don't care much | 2009-11-01 Lock mechanism broke within 30 days Better protection than the Club, but my wife has trouble using it as it requires some strength to firmly attach to the steering wheel without it slipping.
The locking mechanism broke within 30 days rendering it incapable of locking. It could just as easily have broken in the locked position making it impossible to remove. Has to be returned to Master Lock for the warranty refund.
I like the design but not the performance so far. |
