Some secrets of running your car on cooking oil

Today the prices to oil and therefore to gasoline are coming up greatly. Even in New Zealand the country of dream of many people many car drivers abandoned their favorite hobby of car driving having solved their problem by riding a bicycle. Sounds healthy but not promising, right? So, now you cab be happy that you live in the century of advanced technologies. Now you can fairly economize your money while doing your favorite hobby and freeing our environment from contamination. The British scientists let the cat out of the bag and told us about running your car on cooking oil.

According to the scientists words a new way of hydrogen output from vegetable oil can become a reality at once.

A group of scientists of the University of Leeds showed the results of the research on the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society. “Our invention will let produce hydrogen from the material got from vegetable oils by a special fuel processor installation in the car engine” – they told.

Instead of gasoline one can pour sunflower oil or suchlike products into the future car tank that will be transformed into hydrogen by a special facility. The process uses nickel catalyst for gas output from hydrogen molecule, making up oil. “Instead of carrying a big gas tank together with you, you can use a simple liquid biofuel,” – told Andrew Moss, a leader of the research group.

So long as oil resources are reducing gradually the arguments to turn to ecologically clean hydrogen fuel use are becoming more and more convincing. But it is nowhere near to running your car on cooking oil; gasoline will remain the major fuel type in the nearest future.

And to finish the news it is can’t but be mentioned that on the festival of ecologically clean transport means in New Jersey in May the winner in the alternative fuel cars category was Vegginator that ran on student canteen waste products. The car was made by the students of Trenton Central High School. They re-equipped an old “Volkswagen Golf” of the year 1985 and invented the fuel consisting on waste products. They just used a blender to mix used vegetable oil with alkaline solution, methanol and ethanol. The invention cost them less than $1000 including the car purchase.
